CANCERFACTS.COM: Breast and Colorectal Cancer Profilers on Web
Cancerfacts.com> announced today that it has launched "Breast Cancer Profiler and Colorectal Cancer Profiler," a web-based interactive system that will provide cancer patients with "roadmaps" for treatment decisions. The Internet service will allow patients to connect with an extensive database of significant clinical studies and generate personalized reports tailored to their cancer. "Breast cancer patients face a bewildering onslaught of information," Lillie Shockney, breast cancer survivor and vice president and founder of Mothers Supporting Daughters with Breast Cancer, said. Shockney added, "Patients facing treatment decisions can use the Breast Cancer Profiler as one of their tools to filter out and distill information relevant to their own individual situations." In addition to cancer information, the site introduced e-commerce partnerships with Amazon.com, PlanetRx.com, and Dell Computer Corporation, where patients can purchase goods needed to help with their disease. Dr. Robert Day, president and director emeritus of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, said, "Many cancer patients go to their physicians armed with lists of questions and collections of printouts from the Internet. Until cancerfacts.com, we were unable to refer them to a credible site that helps them sift through the mass of cancer information online for personally useful information" (cancerfacts.com release, 2/14).
