CAPH President, CEO Retires; Vice President Appointed as Head of Association
The California Association of Public Hospitals and Health Systems on Tuesday announced the retirement of its president and CEO, Denise Martin, who has held the position since 1993, the San Francisco Business Times reports.
CAPH's board of directors named Melissa Stafford Jones, CAPH vice president and director of policy since 2000, as Martin's replacement. Jones previously served as regional vice president for the Hospital Council of Northern and Central California, an analyst in the Nevada state legislature and an administrator at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center.
According to CAPH, Martin during her tenure "repeatedly beat back attempts to cut Medicaid funding to public hospitals" and "increased key revenue streams by hundreds of millions of dollars" (Rauber, San Francisco Business Times, 1/11).
