CATHOLIC HEALTHCARE WEST: Eliminates 57 Jobs
San Francisco-based Catholic Healthcare West announced earlier this week it would be cutting 57 jobs within its medical foundation and "16 clinics around Sacramento," the Sacramento Bee reports. As a result, 48 employees will lose their jobs, and another 16 positions currently unfilled will be eliminated. While reasons for the layoffs were "vague," a "terse statement" from CHW-affiliate Mercy Healthcare said that the restructuring between the two organizations led to certain overlaps. The layoffs are slated to be complete within the next two months (Ferraro, 8/20).
