Children’s Hospital Web Site to Offer Expanded Services
To become a "national leader in emedicine," Children's Hospital of Philadelphia will spend $16 million over the next three years to expand information and consumer services available on its Web site, the Philadelphia Business Journal reports. The revamped Web site will provide access to a broadened library of "peer-reviewed" pediatric health articles, online forums where families can discuss health issues "with greater anonymity" and a new, interactive "Web Access Center." CHOP President and CEO Dr. Steven Altschuler said the Web Access Center would allow patients and their families to schedule appointments, inquire about test results and billing and obtain physician referrals online. Patients will also be able to email their questions to doctors. CHOP expects to launch the redesigned Web site on Feb. 1 (George, Philadelphia Business Journal, 1/30).
