CMS Extends Information Technology Services Contract with El Segundo-Based Company
Officials at El Segundo-based Computer Sciences Corporation yesterday announced that CMS has exercised a one-year extension in an information technology services contract with the company. Under the $34 million contract, which includes three additional one-year extension options, CSC will provide Medicare claims processing support, software development and consulting services to CMS. CSC also will maintain and upgrade the CMS Common Working File System, which the company has managed since 1997. The system provides prepayment validations for Medicare fee-for-service claims (CSC release, 11/4). In the past two months, CSC also has signed a $59 million contract with the Department of Labor to process benefits claims and a $32 million contract with NIH to overhaul the agency's clinical and research information systems (California Healthline, 10/28).
