CONSUMER AFFAIRS: Wilson Appoints Acting Head
Gov. Pete Wilson (R) yesterday appointed Ronald Joseph as acting director of the state Department of Consumer Affairs. Joseph is currently the executive director of the California Medical Board and will continue to hold that position. He served as the chief deputy director of the Department of Human Services from 1991 to 1995, where he oversaw a variety of programs related to public health and the delivery of health care services. Wilson said, "Ron has hands on experience managing one of the largest and most complex licensing boards overseen by the department. ... I have every confidence in his ability to lead our outstanding management team at Consumer Affairs" (release, 5/12). The Department of Consumer Affairs oversees licensing for over 200 professions, including physicians.
