Contra Costa Fire Chief Proposes Implementing $400 Fee for Emergency Medical Calls
Contra Costa County Fire Chief Jeff Carman has proposed charging more than $400 for the assessment and treatment of patients who obtain treatment from first responders. Such a fee could raise about $1 million annually. The move comes as the county fire protection district faces a $10.2 million projected deficit in its fiscal year 2014-2015 budget.
