County Public Health Department Approved
Los Angeles County supervisors on Tuesday voted to create a county Department of Public Health to oversee disease control and bioterrorism preparedness, the Los Angeles Times reports.
The plan calls for the county Department of Health Services, which currently oversees public health, to continue oversight of county hospitals and medical clinics.
Supervisors are scheduled to vote on the issue for a second time on Monday (Los Angeles Times, 5/31).
