Court Dismisses Punitive Damages in Genentech Case
The California Supreme Court overturned an award of $200 million in punitive damages that Genentech would have had to pay the City of Hope National Medical Center, Genentech said Thursday. The company still will pay the hospital about $475 million, which includes $300 million in compensatory damages and interest since the original 2002 jury decision.
