Court To Hear Realtors’ Lawsuit on Blue Shield Contract
The California Association of Realtors on Friday will make its case in court to stop Blue Shield of California from canceling a contract to cover the association's members, American Public Media's "Marketplace Morning Report" reports (Tyler, "Marketplace Morning Report," American Public Media, 4/5).
At issue is whether the association met a provision in the contract that requires 75% of its members to enroll in the Blue Shield plan, the only guarantee issue association plan that the insurer offers in California.
The association filed the suit in Los Angeles County Superior Court in February (California Healthline, 2/13).
The segment includes comments from:
- Tom Epstein, a spokesperson for Blue Shield;
- John Graham, CEO of the American Society of Association Executives; and
- A realtor association member who participates in the plan ("Marketplace Morning Report," American Public Media, 4/5).
