Coverage Mandate for Women’s Cancer Vaccine Before Schwarzenegger
KQED's "The California Report" on Monday reported on a bill that would require health insurers in California to cover a vaccine against human papillomavirus, the leading cause of cervical cancer.
Currently, California insurers that cover treatment for cervical cancer are required to cover cervical cancer screenings but not the HPV vaccine.
The bill is awaiting a decision from Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R).
The segment includes comments from a San Diego ob-gyn (Goldberg, "The California Report," KQED, 10/1).
