Covered California Ramps Up Enrollment Efforts Ahead of Jan. 31
Covered California is hosting a series of weekly enrollment events across the state ahead of the exchange's Jan. 31 deadline to sign up for health care coverage, the San Jose Mercury News reports.
During the events, insurance agents and certified enrollment counselors will be available to assist residents with signing up for coverage (San Jose Mercury News, 1/5). The assistance will be provided at no cost to enrollees (Cestone, KRON, 1/4).
Partnership With NCAPIP
Meanwhile, Covered California also has partnered with the National Council of Asian Pacific Islander Physicians to encourage Asians and Pacific Islanders to sign up for coverage during the exchanges' third open enrollment period, the Philippine Daily Inquirer reports (Philippine Daily Inquirer, 1/5).
Under the partnership, NCAPIP is sending letters to more than 3,000 council members.
The notices include information on how members can spread the word about open enrollment:
- In physicians' offices; and
- On social media.
This is the second year that NCAPIP has partnered with the exchange.
In a release, Covered California Executive Director Peter Lee said, "We are proud to be partnering again with the trusted members of the National Council of Asian Pacific Islander Physicians," adding, "Their voices help us highlight the importance of the open enrollment period and our shared goal of getting as many Californians health insurance coverage as possible."
Meanwhile, NCAPIP President and CEO Ho Luong Tran said, "We recognize how significant open enrollment is for our patients and consumers across California and the nation," adding, "We want to do our part to ensure more Californians have health care coverage than ever before" (Covered California release, 1/4).
