Covered California Hires Two Consultants, New Marketing Director
On Monday, Covered California announced that it will hire two consultants and a new communications and marketing director, the Sacramento Bee's "Capitol Alert" reports (Cadelago, "Capitol Alert," Sacramento Bee, 1/27).
The contracts are being funded through a pool of $1 billion in federal grant money that Covered California received for staffing and outreach efforts (AP/Sacramento Bee, 1/27).
Details of Contracts
The exchange hired Ana Matosantos, former state finance director, under a six-month contract worth $120,000 to provide consulting services for the exchange on:
- Evaluation analytics; and
- Financial sustainability ("Capitol Alert," Sacramento Bee, 1/27).
Covered California also decided to retain Jeffery Rideout -- a professor at UC-Berkeley's Haas School of Business and former chief medical officer at Blue Shield of California -- as the exchange's senior medical adviser under a one-year contract worth $411,000 (AP/Sacramento Bee, 1/27).
Rideout will offer consulting services on:
- Clinical and network analytics;
- Clinical quality;
- Delivery system reform; and
- Network management.
