DAVIS ADMINISTRATION: Social Services Director Named
Gov. Gray Davis (D) last week announced the appointment of Rita Saenz as director of the state's Department of Social Services, which administers welfare, social services, community care licensing and disability evaluations programs. Saenz, who served as director of the state Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs under then-Gov. Edmund Brown, is currently a partner with Maria Nemeth Associates. She will receive a salary of $105,883, reflecting a 5% reduction as requested by the governor. Confirmation of Saenz's position is pending final approval by the state Senate (Davis release, 4/8).
