Budget Could Create Obstacles for Candidates’ Health Plans
Both Sens. Barack Obama's (D-Ill.) and John McCain's (R-Ariz.) plans to provide health insurance to the nearly 46 million uninsured U.S. residents likely would face obstacles stemming from the growing federal budget deficit. Meanwhile, businesses are concerned that Obama's plan might require medium and large employers to contribute up to 6% of their payrolls to health care benefits for their employees.
