Democratic Presidential Candidate Sen. John Kenny To Unveil Medicare Proposal
Democratic presidential candidate Sen. John Kerry (Mass.) on Monday will unveil a plan to reform Medicare and provide a prescription drug benefit for beneficiaries, the AP/Boston Globe reports. Kerry said his proposal would ensure the financial stability of Medicare and Social Security, increase long-term care coverage for seniors, offer new options for long-term care and encourage community programs for seniors. Kerry will present his plan at a seniors' center in Council Bluffs, Iowa. "You have earned the best of America, and we need to make sure you get the protection and health care you deserve," Kerry's prepared speech for the event reads (Glover, AP/Boston Globe, 10/5).
