Doctors and Nurses
Assembly member Patty Berg's (D-Eureka) bill (AB 2747) was amended to require health care providers to give information about legal end-of-life care options to patients diagnosed with a terminal illness. If the health care provider does not agree with a patient's choice, the bill would require the patient to be referred to another provider (Bill text, 4/29). The Assembly Judiciary Committee is reviewing the bill (Bill text, 4/29).
A bill (SB 997) by Sen. Mark Ridley-Thomas (D-Leimert Park) was amended to centralize certification and oversight of emergency medical technicians at the state level. The bill originally dealt with the transfer of firearms (Bill text, 4/28). The bill has been re-referred to the Assembly Public Safety Committee (Bill text, 4/28).
