EDS Signs Contract to Administer Online Medi-Cal, Healthy Families Enrollment
Business services provider EDS will administer Health-e-App, California's new Web-based enrollment tool for Medi-Cal and Healthy Families, and will continue to process claims and enrollment for Healthy Families under the terms of an 18-month, $64 million contract extension announced Friday. EDS will also develop a training program for personnel in community organizations that assist applicants with the online enrollment program, developed by the California HealthCare Foundation and the Medi-Cal Policy Institute in cooperation with the California Department of Health Services and the Managed Risk Medical Insurance Board. In addition, the deal extends EDS' other duties for Healthy Families, including application review and management of a call center that provides residents with information about state health programs in 11 different languages. With an additional one-year option, the contract could be worth as much as $118 million (EDS release, 6/29).
