Effort To Develop Med School at UC-Riverside Wins $1 Million Donation
On Thursday, UC-Riverside officials announced a $1 million donation from Riverside Medical Clinic for the planned UC-Riverside Medical School, the Riverside Press-Enterprise reports.
UCR spokesperson Kathy Barton said the donation is part of the $30 million the university has raised for planning and operating the school.Â Over the next 10 years, the university aims to raise $250 million, she said.
Barton said Riverside Medical Clinic's contribution is the ninth donation of $1 million or more toward the medical school effort.The UC Board of Regents approved plans for the school three months ago.Â It is slated to open in 2012 (Nealon, Riverside Press-Enterprise, 10/9).
