E-MEDSOFT.COM: Will Acquire VirTx Inc.
Jacksonville, Fla.-based e-MedSoft.com, a maker of software for the health care industry, has announced that it plans to acquire Camarillo-based VirTx Inc., for approximately $23 million in stock, the Los Angeles Times reports. E-MedSoft.com, which sells a subscription-based care management system that facilitates information sharing by providers and insurers, indicated that the acquisition will expand its Internet capabilities. VirTx operates a network in which medical professionals can share clinical information using video conferencing and other Internet-based multimedia software. "VirTx gives us further international clients and helps to break down geographic boundaries because rural areas that have no access to specialized medicine have it over the Internet," e-MedSoft.com CEO John Andrews said. Recently, VirTx, which will operate as the "multimedia division of e-MedSoft.com," began a statewide network for Blue Cross of California, and is building an international network for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (3/14).
