Feckner Expected To Be Elected CalPERS Board President
CalPERS trustees are expected to elect on Wednesday Rob Feckner as board president, the Sacramento Bee reports. Feckner, who has served as interim president of the board since Jan. 1, said that controlling rising health care costs would be a priority for CalPERS (Chan, Sacramento Bee, 2/16).
Board members and people close to the system say that Feckner has the votes of 10 of the board's 13 members, the Los Angeles Times reports. A simple majority of votes are required to be elected board president (Lifsher, Los Angeles Times, 2/16).
According to the Bee, Feckner's "low-key" style of leadership is expected to be different from that of his predecessor Sean Harrigan, who was not re-elected in December 2004 (Sacramento Bee, 2/16).
