- William Novelli, CEO, AARP: "The bill the Assembly passed today takes California a long step forward in the fight to enact health care reform that addresses cost, quality and coverage. We recognize this is not over, and AARP will work closely with the Senate with the hope of supporting the final product."
- Robert Ross, president, California Endowment: The "efforts of key policymakers in Sacramento to try and do something to improve a health care system in disrepair merits some mention. Our Gov. Schwarzenegger and Speaker Fabian Nunez, in particular, worked pretty hard to get a bill through the state assembly this past week. The proposed bill is less than perfect, doesn't solve all of our state's health system challenges, and I wish the ballot/financing approach was different. We now have some meaningful effort towards progress."
- Andy Stern, president, Service Employees International Union: "I believe history will judge today as the tipping point in the long-sought dream of an America that offers every person secure, affordable and quality health care coverage for themselves and their families."
