Former CMA President Touts Physician Report Cards
KPCC's "Air Talk" on Wednesday included a discussion with Ronald Bangasser, former president of the California Medical Association, about the Integrated Healthcare Association's pay-for-performance program.
IHA on its Web site publishes ratings of providers in the state who participate in the program, which evaluates performance through data on clinical outcomes, patient satisfaction and other measures.
About 45,000 physicians, more than 200 medical groups and most major health plans in California participate in the program, Bangasser said (Chen, "Air Talk," KPCC, 3/21).
IHA recently added to its ratings system "efficiency measures" that take into account data on cost and use of resources (California Healthline, 2/27).
Bangasser said consumers can access the ratings through the IHA Web site or the Office of the Patient Advocate Web site ("Air Talk," KPCC, 3/21).
