Former PacifiCare of California Head Named President of Health Net of California
Officials from Health Net of California, a division of Woodland Hills-based Health Net Inc., yesterday announced they have named former PacifiCare of California President and CEO Christopher Wing as president, the Los Angeles Times reports. Wing resigned from PacifiCare in March to "pursue other interests." According to the Times, PacifiCare and Health Net have moved on "two very different tracks" in the past year. Health Net posted a 21% increase in fourth-quarter profit in 2001, while PacifiCare reported a $26.4 million fourth-quarter loss, down from a $12 million profit a year earlier. "PacifiCare is still in its turnaround. Health Net has been through theirs and is growing," Wing said. Wing said that he hopes to "continue building enrollment and rolling out new product" in his new position at Health Net (Los Angeles Times, 4/11).
