FPA MEDICAL MANAGEMENT: Announces Arizona Closures
FPA Medical Management Inc. "continued to contract" yesterday as it announced plans "to close 15 facilities in Tucson and Phoenix," AZ, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports. The financially troubled physician management company will close the Thomas-Davis Medical Centers Aug. 31 as part of "its strategic plan to withdraw from markets where it is losing money." In a statement released yesterday, FPA said the closing will "affect 800 employees," although the company would not specify the number of patients that would be affected (Rose, 7/7).
