Fraudulent Press Release Says Kaiser CEO Resigning

Kaiser Permanente on Monday confirmed that a press release announcing that George Halvorson is resigning as chair and CEO of Kaiser is false, the San Francisco Business Times reports.

The fake press release indicated that its source was PRNewswire and said that Halvorson was leaving immediately. It named Kathy Lancaster, CFO and senior vice president for Kaiser Foundation Health Plan and Kaiser Foundation Hospitals, as an interim replacement.

The source of the news release is unknown (Rauber, San Francisco Business Times, 12/4).
