GLENDALE: Healthy Kids Program Reaches Out To Uninsured Families
A local program in Glendale has been providing health care to uninsured children for five years, the Los Angeles Times reports. The Glendale Healthy Kids program works to "provide medical, dental and mental health services, as well as health education to low-income and uninsured children living in the Glendale area." The program is supported "by all three area hospitals, local businesses and concerned residents." It provided care to 474 area children last year. The program holds an annual community-based fundraiser that is expected to net approximately $20,000 for the program this year, according to chair Ginger Whitesell, who also noted that local providers donate their time and services to the program (Laurell, 9/10).
