Grant Provides Transportation to Medical Appointments
First 5 Kings County will distribute a record $954,183 to six community programs for families with young children, including one that provides transportation to medical appointments, the Fresno Bee reports. First 5 administers proceeds of a state tax to fund children's health care and education programs.
Kathy Cruz, coordinator of the Corcoran Family Resource Center, said the funding will allow the center to hire a case management worker who can provide home visits and transportation for children and parents to medical appointments.
Resource centers in Armona, Hanford, Lemoore and Kettleman City also received funding (Avila, Fresno Bee, 6/30).
