Gray Davis Appoints Jett To Dept. of Alcohol and Drug Programs
Gov. Gray Davis (D) yesterday appointed Kathryn Jett director of the Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs. Jett is currently the director of the state attorney general's Crime and Violence Prevention Center. She is also chair of the executive committee of the Crime Prevention Coalition of America, an organization of more than 125 national, state, federal and community-based groups that "encourages individual citizens to take action to prevent crime." She started "California Safe from the Start," a gathering of community leaders that seeks to "address the impact of violence on children." Before serving at the attorney general's office, Jett was chief of the state Department of Health Services' Office of Women's Health, where she was charged with improving the delivery of health care to women and girls.
