Greenspan Expresses Concerns About Medicare Spending
Speaking before the Bond Market Association, Alan Greenspan on Thursday said he is concerned about the increasing costs of Medicare, the Wall Street Journal reports. In his first public appearance since retiring as chair of the Federal Reserve in January, Greenspan said Medicare spending is unsustainable and eventually could drive the federal debt higher and cause interest rates to significantly increase (Hudson/Ng, Wall Street Journal, 5/19).
