Health Care Training Programs Receive Funds
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) on Wednesday awarded more than $1.5 million in grants to help increase the supply of health care professionals in California, the Sacramento Business Journal reports. The grants were awarded through the Song-Brown program, which is charged with increasing California's supply of:
- Family practice physicians;
- Physician assistants;
- Nurse practitioners; and
- Registered nurses.
The grant recipients are:
- Azusa Pacific University;
- California State University-Bakersfield;
- CSU-Fresno;
- CSU-Long Beach;
- CSU-Los Angeles;
- Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California;
- Riverside Community College;
- San Joaquin Valley College;
- Sonoma State University;
- Stanford University;
- UC-Davis;
- UC-Irvine;
- UCLA; and
- UC-San Francisco School of Nursing (Sacramento Business Journal, 12/6).
