Health Financing
SB 1350 by Sen. Gloria Romero (D- Los Angeles) was amended on April 20 to eliminate a provision that would transfer $25 million from the state General Fund to a Trauma Care Fund in the 2006-2007 fiscal year. The amended version would develop a statewide trauma system only if the finance director determines that sufficient funding is available in the Trauma Care Fund for that purpose. The bill would establish the statewide system, which would be overseen by the Emergency Medical Services Authority, to name trauma regions and require each region to develop a plan to provide trauma care for the entire region. The bill was re-referred to the Senate Health Committee (StateNet, Subscription required).
