Health, Nutrition Grants Available
The Vitamin Cases Consumer Settlement Fund is accepting grant applications from not-for-profit organizations and public agencies that work to improve the health and nutrition of Californians and promote competition in the state, according to Cypresfunds.net.
About $10 million in grants will be available as part of an antitrust settlement with vitamin manufacturers. In the lawsuit, manufacturers were accused of price fixing for a number of vitamins, including A, B, C, E and H. The practice resulted in consumers and businesses paying higher prices for breakfast cereals, milk, juices, vitamins and other products.
The settlement fund has made 52 grants totaling more than $29 million since the lawsuit was resolved.
The grant application deadline is May 22 (Cypresfunds.net).
