HEALTH PLAN ASSOCIATION: California Blue Shield Executive To Head Statewide Group
Bruce Bodaken, president and chief operating officer of Blue Shield of California, has been elected chairman of the board of the California Association of Health Plans. At Blue Shield, Bodaken oversees a statewide managed care operation serving more than 2 million members and generating annual revenues exceeding $2 billion. Prior to joining Blue Shield in 1994, Bodaken was senior vice president and associate chief operation officer of FHP International Corp. in Fountain Valley. Currently, he serves on the boards of Integrated Healthcare Associates (a policy board composed of health plans, medical groups, health care systems and hospitals), the University of San Francisco-San Francisco School of Pharmacy, CPIC Life, Blue Shield of California and its wholly-owned subsidiary, CareAmerica Health Plans. The California Association of Health Plans' 40 member organizations provide health care services to more than 19 million Californians (CAHP release, 4/28).
