Health Plans
Workers' compensation claimants will have the right to be treated by their personal physicians until Dec. 31, 2009, under legislation (AB 2068) by Assembly members Pedro Nava (D-Santa Barbara) and Sally Lieber (D-San Jose) that the governor signed (Bill text, 8/30).
Gov. Schwarzenegger signed AB 2667 by Assembly member Joe Baca (D-San Bernardino), which will direct the CalPERS Board of Administration to consider a potential health benefits provider's record of compliance with regulations, licensing and providing Medi-Cal or other health care services (Bill text, 8/31).
Gov. Schwarzenegger vetoed AB 2132 by Assembly member Lloyd Levine (D-Van Nuys). The bill would have limited how people who retire from CalPERS member agencies and re-enter the workforce calculate their employment tenure and subsequent health care contribution when they retire the second time (Bill text, 8/30).
