Health Policy Research Update
Linking Medicare coverage of some treatments to beneficiaries' participation in a registry or clinical trial could help Medicare beneficiaries make better decisions, according to a paper published in the journal Health Affairs. The policy, called coverage with evidence development, could expedite adoption of new drugs and technologies and improve information about long-term efficacy if certain processes are implemented.
This week's Health Research Policy Update also highlights research on:
- Designing effective health insurance options for immigrants; and
- Improving compliance with disease screening guidelines in Medi-Cal managed care plans.
