Assembly member Hector De La Torre (D-South Gate) amended a bill (AB 1587) to create an exception in the state Confidentiality of Medical Information Act to permit pharmacists to send written communication to patients under some circumstances. The measure initially dealt with recall elections for the city of Lynwood (Bill Text, 8/20). The legislation is before the Senate Appropriations Committee (Bill Status, 8/20).
