HealthCare Partners Expands into San Fernando Valley
To "broaden its patient base" in the San Fernando Valley, HealthCare Partners Inc. has acquired Greater Valley Medical Group and Greater Valley Physician Associates, the Los Angeles Times reports. HealthCare Partners currently serves 365,000 patients, operates 35 clinics and has 363 physicians in Los Angeles and northern Orange counties, but the acquisitions will add 55,000 patients and 68 doctors to its roster. The deal was completed on April 2, but financial details have not been disclosed. Robert Margolis, CEO of HealthCare Partners, said, "This acquisition strengthens our mission to promote and offer medical care to the greater Los Angeles area. Moving into the Valley was a natural geographic extension." The Times reports that although "dozens of [physician] groups have shut down or gone bankrupt" in recent years, HealthCare Partners is considered to be "financially stable" (Hale, Los Angeles Times, 4/13).
