HIAA Releases Spanish-Language Version of Long-Term Care Insurance Guide
The Health Insurance Association of America has released a Spanish-language version of the group's "Guide to Long-Term Care." The guide defines long-term care, informs patients about the cost of long-term care and details the services that long-term care insurance policies cover. In addition, the guide provides information on tax issues, consumer protection standards and steps that patients should take before they purchase a long-term care insurance policy. The guide also provides a list of contacts that can provide patients with more information about long-term care insurance. "Hispanics are the fastest-growing demographic group in America, and as they move up the economic ladder, they're increasingly interested in protecting the assets they've worked so hard to accumulate. Our Spanish-language guide provides clear information that consumers can use to protect themselves in the event that a family member needs long-term care," Dr. Donald Young, president of HIAA, said (HIAA release, 3/28). Patients can call 877-582-4872 to obtain a copy of the HIAA guide or view the guide online. Note: You must have Adobe Acrobat Reader to view the guide.
