Hospital Association, Nurses Union Face Off on Retrofitting Delay
KPCC's "AirTalk" on Tuesday included a discussion about a new law that will delay a 2013 deadline for California hospitals to be able to withstand an earthquake.
Guests on the program included:
- Chuck Idelson, communications director for the California Nurses Association, which opposes the delay; and
- Jim Lott, executive vice president of the Hospital Association of Southern California, which supports the law (Mantle, "AirTalk," KPCC, 12/11).
Under the law, hospitals that can demonstrate financial constraints will have until 2020 to retrofit buildings or construct new facilities (California Healthline, 12/11).
