Hospital District Awards Employees With Performance Bonuses
Some employees at Palomar Pomerado Health District in Escondido on Monday received an across-the-board, 1.5% bonus for achieving goals set by the board of directors in the areas of patient satisfaction, staff retention and financial performance, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports. More than 2,600 employees of the hospital district, which operates Palomar Medical Center, Pomerado Hospital and other small north San Diego County medical facilities, received bonuses as part of the district's shared rewards program, according to the Union-Tribune. The bonus payout totaled about $1.4 million. About 52 management personnel also received bonuses under the program, totaling more than $1 million. Employees who have worked at the hospital district for less than a year were not eligible for the bonus. Board Chair Dr. Alan Larson said, "We are very pleased with the performance of our staff this year and feel that the rewards are well deserved" (Berhman, San Diego Union-Tribune, 10/21).
