Hospitals
AB 2400 by Assembly member Curren Price (D-Inglewood) was amended to require hospitals to notify the public and the state 30 days before closing or eliminating some services. The hospital also would be required to detail how the changes or closure affected the community in a report to the state due 18 months later (Bill text, 5/5). The bill was re-referred to the Assembly Appropriations Committee (Bill status, 5/5).
In addition, Price's bill (AB 2244) would require UC hospitals to provide the Department of Public Health with written staffing plans. An amendment to the measure would eliminate the requirement for registered nurse positions (Bill text, 5/5). This bill is before the Assembly Appropriations Committee (Bill status, 5/5).
