Hospitals Push Back Against Proposed Cuts to Medi-Cal Providers
Proposed cuts to Medi-Cal in Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's (R) revised budget proposal would lead more physicians and dentists to turn away Medi-Cal beneficiaries as payments drop, pushing more patients to seek treatment in hospital emergency departments, according to the California Hospital Association, KPCC's "KPCC News" reports.
Medi-Cal is California's Medicaid program.
Medi-Cal providers already face a 10% reduction in reimbursement scheduled for July 1.
A Senate committee is scheduled to discuss the governor's proposal today.
