Humboldt County Looks To Insure Children
Humboldt County officials said a Children's Health Initiative program could be launched as early as July and provide health insurance for at least 1,500 children in the county, the Eureka Times-Standard reports.
The California HealthCare Foundation has agreed to match five-to-one the cost of premiums for children enrolled in the program, called CaliforniaKids. The Times-Standard reports that the match likely will total about $500,000.
The county also will work to enroll eligible children in Medi-Cal and Healthy Families programs and create insurance plans for families who do not qualify for other state or federal programs (Eureka Times-Standard, 3/13).
