Humboldt County To Sign Up Children for Insurance Online
Humboldt County, Calif., last week won a $200,000 grant that will be used to establish an online application system for families trying to get insurance, the Eureka Times-Standard reports.
"Humboldt County has a track record of innovation and determination," Claudia Page, director of The Center to Promote HealthCare Access, said.
The new grant -- in addition to a recently approved three-year grant of more than $775,000 from the California Department of Health Services -- will go toward the children's health initiative, a program that aims to insure every child in Humboldt County.
The California Department of Health Services also will give more than $258,000 annually for three years for enrollment and retention of children who are enrolled in the Healthy Families, the state children's health insurance program, and Medi-Cal, the state's Medicaid program, the Times-Standard reports (Eureka Times-Standard, 3/23).
