SB 1672 by Abel Maldonado (R-San Luis Obispo) was amended on April 24 to create a low-interest loan program for any eligible health provider organization or any eligible licensed doctor to purchase health information technology systems. The bill previously would have established the loans only for health facilities, hospitals or long term care facilities. The bill was re-referred to the Senate Revenue and Taxation Committee (StateNet, Subscription required). This is part of the California Healthline Daily Edition, a summary of health policy coverage from major news organizations.
