ILLEGAL CLINICS: Major Prescription Drug Raid Nets Illegal Operators
In the "biggest bust to date of illegal medications" in Los Angeles County, "Los Angeles police officers and county health officials" yesterday raided a "a popular shopping complex" which allegedly sells prescription medications illegally. The Los Angeles Times reports that the "drugs seized included anabolic steroids, Valium and Viagra." The Times reports that "[t]hree women were arrested for possession of steroids," and "12 shop operators face fines of $5,000 each." One of the shopkeepers who was raided claimed "she was providing a service to customers who needed medications but could not afford to see a doctor" (10/7).
