Insured and Uninsured
Conducting estimates of small geographic units statewide is an effective way to measure the percentage of uninsured residents at a local level, a study in the American Journal of Public Health found.
The authors' estimate found that health coverage among residents ages 64 and younger varied from 10% to 44% across California legislative districts.
The researchers conclude that policymakers should use localized estimates to help build support to expand health care coverage (Yu et al., American Journal of Public Health, April 2007).
