Judge Might Halt Cuts to Mental Health Services in Sacramento County
On Tuesday, Sacramento Superior Court Judge Steven Rodda issued a tentative ruling indicating that he would support a preliminary injunction to prevent Sacramento County from closing four Regional Support Teams that provide outpatient mental health services, the Sacramento Bee reports.
Mental health care providers sued the county after the Board of Supervisors approved cuts to the mental health services last month. The plaintiffs argued that the cuts would leave the county unable to provide mandated social services.
Rodda's tentative ruling suggests that the cuts would hurt employees of the mental health care providers, as well as patients.
Rodda told attorneys he likely would issue an official ruling on the preliminary injunction in several days (Lewis, Sacramento Bee, 7/21).
