Kaiser Announces Plans To Open a New Medical Complex in Antioch
Kaiser Permanente on Thursday announced plans to begin construction next year on a 150-bed hospital and medical office complex at Kaiser Antioch Medical Center, the Contra Costa Times reports (Ramsey, Contra Costa Times, 5/2). The new 637,000-square-foot complex, which is slated to open in 2007, will have eight delivery rooms, an emergency department, imaging services and 12 operating rooms for inpatient and ambulatory services (Vesely, Oakland Tribune, 5/2). The hospital will be located adjacent to a 67,000-square-foot medical office building currently under construction that will house services for women's health, pediatrics, laboratory imaging and a pharmacy when it opens in September. The complex will serve Kaiser's 100,000 members in eastern Contra Costa County, the area where Kaiser is seeing its fastest membership growth, according to Kaiser spokesperson Randy Wittorp (Hallissy, San Francisco Chronicle, 5/2).
